Gold arrival

Progress! The driver's door arrived back from the paint shop today. The inside, including the shuts, have been painted in the chosen gold colour ( photographed below in the late afternoon sunlight ).

The colour was obtained from a scan of the original gold paint which was revealed when the rear spoiler was removed ( see picture below )

There were about seven close matches found, most of which were pearlescent finish, but there was only one true metallic finish - an old Ford colour called Sandy Gold. This was the colour used.

The paint used is solvent base coat, and then a clear lacquer is applied to produce the high gloss finish.
